It might seem a little daunting, but it's not as difficult as you might think to make baguettes at home.

  • Bread flour icon

  • Active dried yeast icon

    Method

  • 1. Add bread flour, salt and active dried yeast to a clean large mixing bowl
  • 2. Mix briefly until just blended
  • 3. Add water
  • 4. Mix until dough forms
  • 5. Knead on lightly-floured surface - 5 min
  • 6. Transfer dough to large mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap
  • 7. Let rise until doubled - 5 hr
  • 8. Turn out on lightly-floured surface and shape
  • 9. Roll
  • 10. Transfer dough to baking sheet
  • 11. Cover with kitchen towel
  • 12. Let rise - 1 hr
  • 13. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  • 14. Prepare
  • 15. Bake - 25 min, 200°C
  • 16. Let cool
