Nicoise Salad

The classic Nicoise salad, with tinned tuna...which is all good these days. Go the fresh seared tuna if you want to get all fancy schmancy!


  • Potato icon
    Potato700 gcut into 3 cm pieces
  • Red onion icon
    Red onion½thinly sliced
  • Cucumber icon
    Cucumber1halved, sliced
  • Canned tuna icon
    Canned tuna200 gdrained
  • Water icon
    Water500 g
  • Egg icon
  • Green beans icon
    Green beans300 g
  • Extra virgin olive oil icon
    Extra virgin olive oilas needed
  • Salt icon
    Saltas needed
  • Grape tomato icon
    Grape tomato250 g
  • Kalamata olives icon
    Kalamata olivesas needed
  • Mayonnaise icon
    Mayonnaiseas needed

  • 1. Place potatoes in the simmering basket
  • 2. Add water to the TM5 bowl
  • 3. Set simmering basket into position
  • 4. Add egg to the varoma dish
  • 5. Set Varoma into position
  • 6. Cook - 13 min, Varoma, speed 4
  • 7. Top and tail green beans and add them to the varoma tray
  • 8. Remove potato and eggs after they have cooked for 13 min
  • 9. Place Varoma tray into Varoma dish and continue to cook for a further 7 min/Varoma/speed 4
  • 10. Immediately plunge eggs and green beans into an icy water bath to cool
  • 11. Check potatoes are cooked through by piercing with a fork. If not, cook for a further *3–5 min/Varoma/speed 4
  • 12. Transfer potatoes to serving plate
  • 13. Garnish with extra virgin olive oil and salt
  • 14. Assemble the salad in individual bowls or as one large salad with potatoes, green beans, peeled and quartered boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, sliced onion, olives and finishing with the tuna on top
  • 15. Garnish with plenty of mayonnaise
  • 16. This salad is delicious served warm or cold and the individual components will store well in the fridge for several days
