Whole-wheat Sunflower Seed and Honey Bread

This bread has a slight sweetness, delicious served fresh from the oven or toasted. If two loaves seem like too much, slice and freeze for future toasting!

  • 1. Grease 2 clean loaf pans
  • 2. Add water and active dried yeast to a clean large mixing bowl; stir until dissolved
  • 3. Add all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, honey, canola oil and sea salt
  • 4. Mix until smooth
  • 5. Add sunflower seeds and whole wheat flour to the dough
  • 6. Knead until springy to touch - approx 7 min
  • 7. Grease mixing bowl and turn the dough in the bowl to coat
  • 8. Leave until doubled - 1 hr
  • 9. Punch down and divide into halves
  • 10. Form two loafs
  • 11. Transfer to the loaf pans and cover
  • 12. Let rise - approx 30 min
  • 13. Pre-heat oven - 175°C
  • 14. Bake until golden brown - 35 min, 175°C
  • 15. Brush with unsalted butter
  • 16. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds
  • 17. Transfer onto cooling rack
